Iyengar yoga classes The Iyengar system is the world’s most practised form of yoga. It is so popular as it is very methodical and very safe. As you learn there is a gradual, logical progression. I make sure students get enough repetition so that they remember poses and improve them, but not so often that it becomes boring. I believe this method is superior to others due to its precision and attention to detail. The training of Iyengar yoga teachers is incredibly thorough and we undergo continuous monitoring and professional development. I have been trained how to use props where necessary, to achieve properly aligned and extended poses, and also when to remove props when they are no longer needed. Correct alignment is not only important to avoid injury but also to bring about improvement. My classes focus on learning rather than simply ‘doing’. Ex- dancers and ex- gymnasts seem to be able to ‘just do it’. For the rest of us it is about finding the healthy action for us as individuals, so we need to work more mindfully. I like to create a light-hearted atmosphere in class, with plenty of humour to encourage students to challenge their habitual way of doing things. I have a natural love of teaching that I hope is evident in my classes. I take great care as a teacher to take care of my students and to ensure their individual improvement- regardless of their level. This takes careful class planning to allow progression over time. I currently teach yoga classes in Horsham, yoga classes in Worthing and yoga workshops in Horsham and Worthing.
