Our aim is to guide our clients through all stages of the legislative requirements regarding water systems. Our client base includes public and private nursing and residential homes, public and private schools, County Councils, Territorial Army Associations, Leisure Centres, Managing Agents, Facilities Management companies and many other. Risk assessments for the prevention and control of Legionnaires’ Disease The Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8 affects a wide variety of organisations, groups and individuals who are directly responsible for the water systems in their premises. Any building that is accessible to the public is included and a risk assessment of that building is a legal requirement. As an independent organisation we can offer a site-based risk assessment service based on the Health and Safety Executive’s Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8 for the control of Legionella bacteria. Our comprehensive assessments include: •Asset identification •Areas of concern and required remedial action •Action plan •Line drawing of your system •Photographic evidence of non-conformities •Water Management Programme •General recommendations for maintaining a clean system The ACOP recommends that a risk assessment is carried out and should be updated every 2 years. Microbiological and chemical analysis: Water, though vital for life, can also act as the carrier for residues, poisons and various contaminants that can pose a significant risk to health. All water sources contain naturally-occurring bacteria, the majority of which are harmless to humans. Any water supplied for domestic purposes, whether for drinking, washing or cooking, must not contain any element, organism or substance that would be detrimental to public health. We can provide simple bacteria dip slide testing or expert water sampling and analysis services using UKAS approved laboratories where the interpretation of the results are carried out by experienced microbiologists. Sampling can be carried out for all water-borne bacteria including: •Legionella •Total Viable Count •Coliforms •Cryptosporidium We can also provide chemical analysis of low pressure hot water and chiller systems to ensure the correct dosing for maximum efficiency and long term protection of the plant and pipework Services and Maintenance: Aquastat provides a comprehensive range of products and services for minimising the risk of legionellosis and maximising energy and efficiency within water systems including: •Risk Assessments •Cleaning and disinfection of water storage tanks and associated services •Tank refurbishment to Bye Law requirements •WRAC approved butyl lining of tanks, GRP coating or painting •Tank replacement •Monitoring of hot and cold water services •Descaling and disinfection of shower heads •On-line disinfection of water systems (disinfection without disruption to the water supply) •Chemical descaling of boilers and calorifiers •Water softening installations and servicing •Installation of water heaters •Ultra violet systems •Monitoring, treatment and cleaning of LPHW or chilled systems •Cooling tower maintenance •Range of chemical products •Sole suppliers of the Micro Discharge Unit for Scale Prevention Our engineers and consultants boast backgrounds and experience in plumbing, engineering, microbiology and chemistry and have all completed accredited training courses run by The Water Management Society. For advice or further information on any of the above please contact us by phone, fax or email. A non-chemical solution: It has long been acknowledged that ''prevention is better than cure''. And in the case of scale deposition in water systems this maxim is especially appropriate. Aquastat is the sole manufacturer of this chemical free unit for scale prevention in water systems which prevents the build-up of scale without the use chemicals or salt. It treats water physically by pulsating electrical discharges which interfere with the polarity of the dissolved scale-forming salts. THE AQUASTAT MICRO DISCHARGE UNIT: Simply fitted into the cold water pipe, the Aquastat MDU has proved itself over many years as an effective and economical solution wherever pipework, valves, pump parts or other equipment may be damaged or rendered inefficient by scale deposition. Operating costs are insignificant because the unit uses no chemicals and consumes negligible power. The simplicity and robust construction of the unit and its controller means the maintenance requirement is minimal. Designed specifically for once-through systems, such as calorifiers and hot-water boilers, as well as vented recirculating systems, there are also a variety of possible applications for the treatment of process and potable water where chemical treatment is unacceptable
