North Down Counselling is a private counselling practice covering the Belfast and North Down Areas, managed by Julie Dodds a BACP accredited counsellor with 11 years experience who has had particular success working with issues related to Anxiety, Abuse, Anger, Low Self Worth, Trauma, Childhood Sexual Abuse, OCD, Depression, Bullying, Family & Stepfamily Relationships, Work related issues, Self Harm, Disruptive Behaviour including ADHD, Eating Disorders, Phobias, Bereavement and Couples Counselling. I am also a Qualified Practitioner in EMDR, a specialised and often fast-working treatment for the relief of traumatic symptoms such as those experienced after being involved in road traffic accidents, physical/sexual assaults, abuse of any kind, or witnessing horrific events. This treatment is also used in performance enhancement and to improve self-esteem and is available either alone or alongside counselling. People come into counselling with a wide range of personal, emotional and relationship difficulties. Counselling can be enormously helpful, it just requires you to take that crucial first step and share your problem with someone who will understand and accept whatever is troubling you. My aim is not to solve one particular problem but to assist you to grow, so that you can cope with the present problem and with later problems that may occur in your life. I offer both long term or short term therapy according to the presenting issues of my clients. My fee is £40 per 50 minute session. My approach is integrative using the person-centred model as a foundation, drawing upon the core conditions to produce a confidential, trusting, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. Although concentrating on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy I integrate this with Psychodynamic work, Family Counselling and Solution Focused Counselling. However, counselling, no matter what approach is used, centres on building a trusting relationship to enable you to share, explore and start to change some of the issues that have brought you to counselling.
