Pam Blything Childminding Services
Portishead, Bristol, BS20 6LZ
I offer children enjoyable, quality childcare. I believe in learning through play and offer a relaxed homely setting where we try to go out as much as the weather permits. I try to maintain a healthy, active approach to life and childcare with a consideration for and an awareness of those around us, our environment and the natural world. I encourage individuality and promote self-confidence and self-reliance through developing abilities and praise of achievements. I believe children should be free to be themselves and express themselves as much as possible without restraint or suppression. I also like music / song time as well as quiet / reading time, usually after lunch or before a nap. I like to allow children to challenge themselves physically as a crucial part of developing and exploring. For this I like to partake in outings, visiting places with soft padded areas such as Softplay at The Parish Wharf for little ones and outdoor playgrounds and grassy areas for sporting games and activities for all ages. When we are to go somewhere that charges for entrance, I will discuss with the parent’s prior to the day and if they would like me to go on a day when their children are with me then the parent’s will be asked for the entrance fee up front. This also includes trips such as Bristol Zoo and other facilities. I have a vast range of games and activites to offer, a wonderful way of combining fun with mental development. When there is more than one child taking part, this also promotes their social skills. We also visit toddler groups from time to time for further socialising. We have a pet hamster and we also recycle and compost so there is the opportunity for children to help and learn about caring for animals and the environment. I am more than happy to use re-useable nappies at parents’ request. Some of the activities I plan tie in with events in the yearly calendar such as National Safety Week, National Pet Week, the seasons and religious celebrations, to name a few. I welcome ideas from parents and children. Whatever we do, my setting and I actively promote an understanding of differences and the inclusion of people with disabilities and multiculturalism as standard. Most of all I believe in fun, as childhood should be. Food If you would like me to provide meals for your child/ren, I would be more than happy. Lunches are 50p and main meal dinners are £1. Many meals are home-cooked from scratch with natural ingredients but occasionally they include pre-prepared food. Generally, we endorse the view that everybody eats the same main meal and that if they choose not to eat it, they will not be offered an alternative. I do however accommodate children’s individual likes and dislikes as much as possible. For this purpose, if your child/ren is eating main meals with us it would be helpful to have a list of their likes and dislikes. I also need to know if your child has allergies or reacts to any ingredients such as colourings or sugars in food/drinks, regardless of who is providing the meals. Any enquiries please don’t hesitate to contact me! Pam
