About The J’s Hospice – caring for young adults with life limiting conditions The J''s Hospice is an emerging hospice, developed through the drive and vision of the local community to see enhanced care and support for young adults with life limiting conditions, such as cancer and a wide range of complex neurological and metabolic conditions. The J’s provides nursing, respite and end of life care, advice and advocacy, emotional care and support for the young adult and their family in the comfort and security of their own home. Our aim is to encourage young adults to live life to the full, however short their lives. To provide this much needed support to young adults with life limiting conditions in Harlow and across Essex, and to realise our goal of having our own hospice building, which will be the first and only young adult hospice in the East of England, we rely on continuing efforts to fundraise, from individuals, companies and our public fundraising events. There are lots of ways in which you can support us achieve our aim of maintaining the best possible quality of life for the young adults we care for and we will always greatly appreciate any support you can give. Access Funding is a new service to help charities ‘Access Funding’ Having worked as a Professional Fundraiser for nearly 7 years, for both large and small charities, and most recently for the local Community Voluntary Service, Wendy Bixby realised that there was a large gap in provision for Voluntary Community Organisations (VCOs) and small-medium sized Charities when it came to getting the support they needed in accessing funding expertise. Wendy said ‘Good local CVS’s accept that they cannot be experts in every field and are choosing to specialise in different areas such as accounts and training, this means that Voluntary Community Groups are missing out on funding opportunities and expert support and advice, so ‘Access Funding Consultancy’ has formed to fill that gap’ Access Funding Consultancy is a new organisation based in Colchester, which offers a free of charge initial consultation to organisations with an income of under 100k per annum. What is completely unique to Access Funding Consultants is that it is currently developing a charitable arm, with the hope that in the future it will open a centre where small charities and VCOs can access free support and advice from expert Fundraising professionals. Wendy said ‘We are based in Colchester, but our aim is to develop a healthy voluntary sector right across Essex. We want to support charities so they can grow and develop their projects and services which will enable them to meet the needs of local communities’ Ann from charity KnifeCrimes.Org has been using the consultancy service and said, ‘Access Funding Consultants caters for all your fundraising needs, they have helped me develop a fundraising strategy and identify suitable funders, which I would have over looked.
