I was talking to a guy in the local pub last week about beekeeping.

We got chatting and he told me he bought flat pack beehives and assembled them himself almost as a hobby.

He said he could make them for half the price they were being sold for elsewhere so I suggested we build a little website and see if there was any interest in ready assembled beehives.

I started a site at http://www.swbeehives.co.uk/ and today went round there to take some photos of the beehives and photos of him checking them over.

He’s going to send me some information about beehives soon and also information about the various bits of beekeeping equipment needed when starting up as a beekeeper.

I’m even thinking of getting one myself, especially as he says the average bee hive produces 60 pound of honey a year.

I came up with the idea a few months ago of using personalised number plates as a way of advertising.

SEO may not be a common terminology to the general public yet, but as more and more small business owners know what it stands for now, I decided to get one for my V1 SEO website.

I finally picked the new car up yesterday so have put the plate on that and will also have a sticker put in the back windscreen showing the full v1seo.co.uk URL.

Next time I visit any business centres, industrial units, networking events, business groups, etc. I will make sure it is parked up where everyone sees it.

Personalised number plate sellers: contact me at 1@v1seo.co.uk if you want a link to your website on this page.

This might sound like a strange thing for a group of lads to discuss in the pub, but the subject of wedding proposals did indeed come up the other day (in between mulling over England’s rubbish performance in the World Cup and asking why Cristiano Ronaldo calling his baby son..err Cristiano Ronaldo!).

Our best mate from school dragged his girlfriend up Snowdon in a howling gale to propose to her at the top. Another friend was getting into the swing of things in Ibiza and proposed to his girlfriend of five months watching the sunrise at Café del Mar. But the winner has to be my mate Steve who proposed in the middle of a hot air balloon flight!

Organised like a military operation, the whole thing was a surprise. Leaving before dawn, his girlfriend was wondering why he was behaving so strangely when all they were doing just ‘missing the traffic’ by leaving early to head down the M1 for a parental visit.

When they arrived at the meeting point and saw the balloon basket, his girlfriend knew they were heading up for a hot air balloon ride. What she didn’t know was that they were about to embark on an exclusive hot air balloon ride just for them, but she did wonder why Steve wouldn’t take his hand out of his jacket pocket. The truth was he was terrified of losing the ring so wouldn’t let go!

From what Steve tells us, the lovely Jayne was completely gobsmacked when, several hundred feet off the ground, our boy got down on one knee (well, as best you can in a big wicker basket) and proposed. And yes, she did say yes and the champers was cracked open.

We couldn’t believe how well Steve did. If you met him you’d say he was useless at keeping secrets and was the most unorganized person you’ve ever met. He’d have trouble organising a cup of tea, let alone proposing to his girlfriend during a hot air balloon ride! They used Into the blue.co.uk as the supplier for the hot air balloon ride

Most of us can’t afford a night in a five star hotel in the middle of London and we’re sure popping in for dinner would cost you an arm and leg, but there is a way you and a friend can lap up the five star luxury without paying a five star price; with an Afternoon Tea for Two experience.

The swankiest hotels across London have cottoned on to this and many are offering sumptuous afternoon teas for around £55 for two.

After forgetting her birthday the other week, we took Mum to Le Meridien Hotel in Piccadilly for a proper posh afternoon tea the other day. It was just our Mum’s ‘bag’ – the beautiful reception area, the friendly and efficient staff ready to pour another cuppa the moment your china cup is empty and even a pianist tinkling the ivories, all combined to make for a very pleasant atmosphere.

I can recommend an afternoon tea experience to anyone who needs to score some Brownie points with any of the ladies in your life!
